Current Projects
Last year, when I set out to gain literary representation, I knew it would be a war—they call it the "query trenches" for a reason—but I still wasn't prepared for the mustard gas. I hope to talk more about it one day. Until then, I'll continue on my journey toward publication.
I’ve begun writing the first draft to my new novel The Fallen Ones, part two of The Children of Dusk and Dawn series. After working on The Lightning Wolves for so long, beating it into shape, it’s hard to put into words how excited I am to start something new.

Today we remember the late Karl Edward Wagner, born this day 79 years ago. Weaving darkness into sword-and-sorcery with a master's touch, he gave the world Kane, a crimson haired swordsman who may well be the most devilish antihero in the genre.
Who here loves Karl or Kane?
Happy Birthday to American artist Margaret Brundage, born on December 9, 1900!
From 1933 to 1938, Brundage provided more cover art for "Weird Tales" magazine than any other artist. Her work remains deeply connected to this iconic period in the history of Weird Fiction.
100% clown show. And all that talk about pushing women's boxing forward. That's the part that hurts most. Everyone associated with this farce should be ashamed.
-The Evolution of a Writer-
"Hi!" Jack said.
"Hi!" Jack said enthusiastically.
"Hi!" Jack exclaimed.
"Hi!" Jack barked sharply like an eager dog.
"Hi!" Jack's eagerness was a stirring hound awaiting his first fox hunt of the season.

An oldie but a goodie: my cosmic horror triangular graph. I need to redo it—partially because I’ve consumed a significant amount of work since this graph’s creation, but also because my opinions have pivoted.
For the lovers of the weird, the dark, the curious and the fantastic, a shelfie from my library with a selection of 19th century books. So many unforgettable dreams and nightmares.

Is there a better fantasy love story than Ladyhawke (1985)?
27 YEARS OF PEAK FICTION
Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen just having the calmest politics discussion
thinking about this again
Modern Logo design is so boring. We need to go back.
If those were the kind of books boys were being given, they would be reading them.
But they're not.
The "all art is political" line alienates a lot of working class and non-credentialed artists who don't understand the bureaucratic manner in which "elites" talk about art. An outsider/poor artist doesn't have the luxury to think that way. He's just trying to make it.
Ladyhawk is such an underrated movie. From the cinematography to acting to writing to score it’s just so… 🤌🔥
VALE BRIAN LUMLEY (1937–2024)
Today we learned of the sad news of the passing of renowned and influential horror and fantasy Brian Lumley (1937–2024), some of whose creations found their way into the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG.
Mike Mason's obituary:
RIP Brian Lumley (1937-2024), prolific British author of Cthulhu mythos tales as well as the long-running NECROSCOPE series
It's surprising to me how many authors are resilient enough to continue writing. This is a stressful and pretty unrewarding passion most of the time and it's absurd how quickly self doubt can infect your mind. I hate it 😂
I wrote a follow-up piece to my article in @TheFP about the publishing industry for my S*bstack. I received many questions from writers, but chose to answer the most important one: what are the traits of an ideal literary editor? Link in bio.
